OpenAPI and SDKs
Merki is compatible with the OpenAI and Anthropic client ecosystems. There is no proprietary SDK to learn.
Quick path
- Keep your existing OpenAI or Anthropic SDK.
- Change the base URL to Merki and the key to a Merki key.
- Add the Merki model name from the catalog.
Details
| Topic | Decision |
|---|---|
| OpenAI SDKs | baseURL: "https://api.merki.dev/v1", apiKey: <merki-key>. Works with the official Python/JS SDKs, LangChain, LlamaIndex, and IDE integrations. |
| Anthropic SDKs | baseURL: "https://api.merki.dev/v1/messages", apiKey: <merki-key>. |
| Machine spec | OpenAPI document: https://api.merki.dev/openapi.json. |
| Field coverage | Common request/response shapes for each family. Out-of-coverage fields return 400 invalid_request naming the field. See Endpoints and Errors. |
| Versioning | Additive changes only within a major version; breaking changes get a new versioned prefix and a deprecation notice. |
from openai import OpenAI
client = OpenAI(base_url="https://api.merki.dev/v1", api_key="...")
client.chat.completions.create(model="Qwen3-32B", messages=[{"role": "user", "content": "Hi"}])Checklist
- [ ] Only the base URL and key changed; no request-shape rewrite.
- [ ] Model name is a Merki catalog name or a BYOK provider ID.
- [ ] SDK version pins are recorded for reproducibility.
